The Great Social Media Myth

Updated: Jun 29, 2019

I hate myths that hold people back - and I am going to crush one today.

I'm going to smash a dangerous myth that's spreading like a wild fire.  There will be some who disagree with this (mostly because they've wasted so much time stuck in it).... but I am going to crush it - right here, right now.

The myth goes like this:

1.  You have to have to be a social media guru to grow your coaching business. 2.  Unless they see you on instagram laying on beach or next to the Lamborghini, nobody is going to want to hire you. 3.  "Likes", "fans", and "followers" are the key to building your online business

This, my friend is a bunch of BS.

The reason I want to crush this myth right now is because it's can hold you back when your your dream business is right around the corner. The myth forces you into this vortex of obligation and defeat.  It prompts an internal dialogue that sounds something like this:

"Ugh, I have to post on social media today, It takes forever" "I never got around to posting on social media today" "I've fallen so far behind, at this point - what difference does it make" "I HATE social media. I never know what to say and I feel so fake!" "Ok...I'll get back on track" "Sh%t, I forgot again" Rinse....and repeat.

Don't get me wrong....social media is a great vehicle for your message, but for heaven's sake, you don't need to eat, breathe, and sleep on it for success.  The truth is, once you know how to design a message that resonates and re-purpose it - you'll be just as social media savvy as the next coach without having to be everywhere - all the time.

Remember this: you don't have to be famous to be successful.  You just have to have a plan. And once you understand the REAL story...everything will change!

See, most people approach social media like fireworks.  They want to be flashy, and explosive.  They see it as a place to show off and to impress.  These people want to be well-known.

But those who use social media effectively understand not to use it like fireworks, but like a bonfire.  They use it to interact with others in a comfortable way that invites communication and engagement.  These people want to be well known, they want to be worth knowing well.

And they deliver their message according to a consistent plan.  Consistency beats quantity every time.

And the proof is in the pudding.  Take a look at me....

99.99% of the population have no idea who I am. As I'm writing this I have less than 100 instagram followers!!  I am not famous. Yet here we are.  You and me, engaging with one another.  You have never seen a tour of my house or pics of me and my car.

Why? Because I don't want you to compare yourself to me. The only person you should be comparing yourself to - is the person you were yesterday.

So here we are. Not because I am famous...but because I have a marketing and messaging model that works.  I have a strategy....and I want you to have one too!

So how about we put an end to your struggle to keep up??  No more trying to figure out how others seem to pull it all together.  Better yet - how about we pull off your mask, keep it real, and create plan to be consistent.

The social media myth is a bunch of BS.

So if you want to take a look at the tool I use to put out consistent content without all the overwhelm. Check out The Content Accelerator™ tool here!

Do The Thing! (oh, that's something you will hear me say a lot. More on that later!)

All the best,
